If you could learn a trade — say carpentry, electrical work, roofing, landscaping, plumbing, flooring, drywall — you name it — what skill(s) would you love to have in your back pocket?
As the daughter of a carpenter, I grew up on construction sites and always admired those that knew how to be so efficient in a trade. But as cool as I now think it would be to know some of that, there are plenty of do-it-yourself books and tv shows, and of course youtube to help me in my adventurous state of mind should I ever choose to dive into a trade.
And although I cannot consider landscaping a trade in my back pocket, I do love to garden and have several flower boxes that I’m anxiously awaiting to fill with flowers. A hobby more than a trade. Knitting and crochet would also be a hobby, more than a trade, but oh the pleasure I get out of knitting myself a new hat for winter, or a shawl for spring, or a new cotton dishcloth for those practical moments of life!
