Last But Not Least

In your imaginary award acceptance speech (yes, we know you have one), who’s the very last — and most important — person you thank?

I’m drawn to a pretty familiar saying, which you will also find in your bible:

16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. ~Matthew 20:16 NKJV

I don’t watch award shows much, and the few that I’ve seen, I wonder about the speeches. Seems no matter what they write, it all goes awry once they get up there. Maybe it’s the excitement, maybe the shock that they actually won, maybe it’s simply fear that what they wrote won’t be appreciated or accepted. Or, just maybe it the thought of forgetting that one person you truly want to thank…or thanking people in the “wrong” order.

Well, whatever the case, IF I were to try and get up in front of a bunch of people and give an acceptance speech, first and foremost, my thanks goes to God, because I am nothing without Him and all glory and honor is His! Next, my parents for raising and instilling me with the values I carry today. Then, those in the field that make me look good, because in all honesty, it isn’t about me, but rather how good all those around me make me look. So…by this point, time is running out….

Last but not least…

I would thank my dear husband for standing by my side through it all. I thank God for you each and every day.
