You can choose any person from history to teach you any topic you want. Who’s your teacher, and what do they teach you?
I kind of struggled with this one today. I could pick anyone and have them teach me anything. However, I would want it to be of interest, and well, certain subjects and things just are not of interest to me. So, that being said, I looked at my hobbies and something I love to do, wish I had more time for, and would love to be taught not only the history, but the present.
My teacher would be Elizabeth Zimmerman. And only if you are into the textiles would you know that she is consider the queen of knitting. I have a couple wonderful books that were penned by her that talk of the history of the craft, and am even more fortunate to own a cd that has her teaching some of her techniques. But none of this would be as good as meeting and being taught by her in person.
Her obituary was published in the New York Times on December 12, 1999. Her legacy lives on in all knitters. If you knit, you know her name, her techniques, and probably have even tried a pattern or two. Yes, Elizabeth would have been an amazing teacher to learn under.
