Wrong Turns

When was the last time you got lost? Was it an enjoyable experience, or a stressful one? Tell us all about it.

In today’s world of GPS, I venture to say that it is almost impossible. If your car doesn’t have it, chances are your phone does. And if you are of the male species, then I venture to say that you’ll never admit to ever being lost…simply you took the scenic route. And us females…well, we weren’t really lost either…we just asked for directions.

But there is a type of “lost” that I love…to be lost in something I’m doing. Ah…like in a good book that I cannot put down, or in my knitting where I want to complete just one more row. Or when I’m just lost in the moment and completely enjoying my surroundings…such as this moment.

It’s funny that this prompt came this morning. I’m on vacation from work this week, and although I have nothing planned in the way of going somewhere far from home, I’ve been enjoying the time off and making sure I do exactly the things I cannot when working.

One of those things is sitting on my front porch enjoying a cup of tea, with a book near by, and some knitting too! Of course I also have my laptop so I can write. It’s all of 57 degrees out here (cloudy and a continuous mist too), and yes, I’m wearing a sweatshirt, but I love this spot and the peacefulness it gives me. I love to hear the birds chirping, and the sound of the frogs croaking, even the gentle breeze blowing. And there is something about the smell of the rain that brings this morning all together.

Yes, I am lost. Lost in my surroundings and enjoying the moment because it is something I truly enjoy. And that is a lost I will never complain about being.
